What do you remember most about your favourite wedding?
I really can’t pick a favourite – I love them all. In my earlier days, I made baby pink/crystal stationery for a huge wedding in Scotland. I dealt with the Mother of the Bride who was absolutely lovely. She knew exactly what she wanted to create for her daughter, but just couldn’t find the style/design anywhere. After speaking to her on the phone, I made a sample and she called me a few days later crying! I thought I had blown it but the tears were happy tears – she was so delighted that I had seen her vision and had made exactly what she wanted. I went on to make everything stationery related for the wedding for 170 guests. It was very hard work but I loved every minute. She still calls me for a chat now and then, which is fabulous.
What was the most romantic gesture you have seen and heard?
I love a good proposal. They are like people. They come in different shapes and sizes! Some of my couples have a wonderful holiday and the proposal happens at sunset on the beach and it’s perfect. My favourite has to be the groom who didn’t have the money for a holiday. He knew his lady loved the countryside and a good hike, so he did just that. They went for a walk in the woods and in a small clearing he had arranged for his friends to lay out a picnic – all set up – with lovely M&S food, wine, etc – I thought that was so personal and beautiful.
Are there any new trends for 2019 you would like to tell us about?
Glitter, glitter and more glitter! I am making lots of samples, in various colours, which have a touch of glitter (somewhere). Some have more than others and that’s perfectly fine as each couple is different. Pocket fold style invitations will always be the most popular as they contain all the information (reply card, menu, accommodation/transport, gift information and general information). Not every couple need to include all of these options but it is available if you need it. Pocket folds reduce the stress on the couple, as they already give all the information, so there is no need to be inundated with texts, emails and calls.
What would be the most important piece of advice you would give a couple?
Your invitation is the first glimpse your guests have of your wedding. When you send a beautifully made invitation, they will know how much detail you have put into the wedding and how beautiful it is going to be.
What's the most popular request?
Most couples I meet, want me to work with them to bring the style of the wedding into their stationery. They love it that the design of their invitation flows through all the other stationery they may need. This is not something you can communicate to an on-line business. So, therefore the most popular request is:
“Can you make everything to match?” and I always love to answer “Absolutely!”
Do you have a favourite review?
I am always extremely grateful when a couple leave a lovely, kind review. They don’t have to do it, so when they do, it gives you such a boost.
I love all the reviews I have had but my favourite is from Ellia who went into lots of detail…
We were recommended Lisa through a work colleague, we had decided to have a whirlwind wedding so were only able to give Lisa a few months to create and make our invites. This didn’t phase her at all, in fact she guided us through the whole process and put at ease when needed. She delivers an incredibly personalised service. No request was too big or too small for Lisa. I felt like she listened to my input and helped us achieve the best design for our wedding stationary. We were truly in love with the end result. Lots of our guests commented on the professional finish of the stationary and complimented the design. We couldn’t recommended Lisa highly enough, Thank you so much for everything.

Do you have a favourite style?
I enjoy making any style of stationery but if I had to nail it to one style, it would be something glitzy and glamourous. However, I also love a bit of rustic twine and dried flowers. It’s a difficult one to answer as I really do just love to make beautiful stationery for couples to send out to their guests and to receive comments such as “the invitation is the most beautiful we have ever seen” – that’s what makes me sit at my desk all day making stationery!
Is all your Stationery handmade?
The printing is done by a professional printer and the laser cut designs are bought in from the USA. I make everything else myself!
What do you love most about the wedding business?
I absolutely love meeting people and talking to them about their day. I feel truly honoured when a couple book a consultation with me.
They are trusting me to make their invitations and stationery and this just WOWs me every time.
How did you start in the stationery business?
I worked in an office and made cards for my colleagues’ birthdays. A colleague mentioned her daughter was getting married and couldn’t find any invites she liked, so she asked if I could help. From that one wedding, I got three more orders from her guests. That was 10 years ago. I continued to work in the office for 3 years whilst I built my business. Kardelicious is now my full time job, if you can call it a job!
What do you do to relax?
I love to walk my dog, Tess. It gets me out, breathing fresh air and getting some exercise. I am lucky to be close to the beach, the park and the forest!
Beautiful dog Lisa!
